Community Pride, Love For Soccer Drives Lady Blues Head Coach Casey Weil’s Role On State Soccer Board

Posted Date: 03/04/26 (06:03 PM)

For Lady Blues Head Coach Casey Weil, it’s about so much more than the love of the sport. It’s about trust, pride, and fun. Weil’s dedication to his players, along with his years of service as a coach in the state of Texas, resulted in his election to The Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) Board of Directors on November 21, 2025. He was one of just four in the state elected to the board, which works hand-in-hand with the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas Girls Coaches Association to promote the development of high school soccer and opportunities for student athletes. Coach Weil will begin his four-year term as a member of the board this spring.

“It's just a very proud moment for me as a coach to even be held at that standard by my peers,” he said. “It's an opportunity for me to learn more, have an input, and be an advocate for so many kids, not just here at Graham, but across the state of Texas.”

Weil began coaching in 2006, and his commitment to excellence has shone throughout his career. He was the TASCO Region 1 Coach of the Year in 2009, 2017 and 2019. He was also the Regions 1 and 2 All-Star Coach in 2010, 2017 and 2019. He found success in several districts in Texas before returning to Graham ISD, where he has now coached for three years.

“Here at Graham, seeing these kids come together and believe in one another has truly been very fulfilling for me. The success that our team has had this year has been phenomenal, and is something I'm very proud of,” he said.

Weil emphasized the importance of building relationships around trust that extend beyond the field. While he celebrates when his players find success through victories, he values when students are given the opportunity to do something that they love. The Lady Blues often discuss the “why” behind playing the sport, and for whom they play the sport. At the center is a team with strong bonds and community pride.

“Over the past three years playing for coach Weil, he has always shown that he believes in us, and he has encouraged all of us all the time,” said Lady Blues Captain Mai Bara.

“I start getting emotional just thinking about them,” Weil said. “If I can instill [pride] in them and teach some life lessons along the way about what they're going to face throughout their lives, and help them in that aspect, I can rest my head on my pillow at night. I hope they know that I care about them and would do just about anything in the world for them.”

Coach Weil looks forward to not only representing Lady Blues Soccer, but also the community of Graham in his new election to the state soccer board. Graham ISD extends its congratulations to Coach Weil and looks forward to his team’s continued success!
