I also hold an Alphabetic Phonics Therapist Certification from The Scottish Rite Learning Center of West Texas and have been a Certified Academic Language Therapist.
Over the years I have attended many professional trainings; most notable are the following:

TCEA Technology for Tots
Really Great Reading
I moved to Graham in 2008 and began teaching 1st Grade in the fall of 2009 (My first class graduates this year!). After teaching 1st grade for two years, I moved to 2nd grade, and have been here ever since. In this position I have team-taught with Kelly Hedge teaching only English Language Art/Reading, but am currently self-contained, teaching all subjects. This will be my 12th year with Graham ISD.
Before moving to Graham, I served as a language arts specialist/ literacy coach for a year and a half in the Union School District in Tulsa, OK. Prior to that, I had 17 years with the Midland Independent School District. My experience there included 2nd-grade teacher, 4th grade English Language Arts/ Reading teacher, and Academic Language Therapist in the Dyslexia Program.
I am a mom to two great kids that keep me on my toes and provide me with ultimate joy. My son, Chandler, a 2019 GHS graduate is 19 and attends Texas Christian University. My daughter, Leslie is a sophomore at GHS. We all answer to the queen of the house, Roxy, our 7-year-old Husky Lab mix that we adopted from YCHS.
When I am not teaching, I can usually be found chasing after my kids or spending time with family and friends. I am fortunate to have a special someone, both of my parents, two sisters, one brother, and lots of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews in my life. I also enjoy working on DIY projects at home, working in my yard, reading, surfing the net, or watching movies, or a good series.
