Education

Educational History:

I graduated from Graham High School in 1987.  Go Steers!

I’m a 1991graduate of Texas Christian University.  Go Frogs!

Recently, I added a master’s degree from Midwestern State University.  Go Mustangs!

I have added a principal certification from Lamar University!  Go Cardinals!

 

Degrees and Certifications:

Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Christian University, Class of 1991

Master of Education from Midwestern State University, Class of 2015

Principal certification, Lamar University, Class of 2019.

 

Professional Development:

Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital Dyslexia Therapist Certification

Certification program for principalship, Lamar University.

Current Position:

I began with Graham ISD in 1992.  I was able to teach first grade for about 15 years, along with Reading Recovery. I then moved into the Reading Lab, then dyslexia therapy.

Previous Position:

I taught one year in Olney before coming to Graham.  

Family Information:

Sim Burgess and I married in 1992, and we have 3 children.  Elizabeth is a Texas Tech graduate and  Ben will continue his education at Texas Tech, Go Raiders!  Becca is finishing up at Graham High School.  When she graduates we all will have walked the halls of Graham High School. Go Steers!

Personal Information:

I love to spend time with family when I am not teaching.  And I love to read, read, read!
